A Huge Well Done to Jade and Her Team at Croft Residential Home

When, at just 18 years old, Jade Vince began her career as a healthcare worker, she could never had known the impact her career choice would have on the lives of the hundreds of people who would come to make Croft their home. Jade in an extraordinary manager, she is innovative, supportive and caring. She does not tick boxes, she colours them in, cuts them out and creates something magical in the process.

Today we were delighted to receive the following review, I am sharing it, not just as testament to Jade and her fabulous team but also as an insight into life at Croft, into the extraordinary lengths the team go to, to look after everyone who walks through their door. Enjoy.

“Making the decision to move our 97-year-old grandad/dad into a care home after he lost his mobility over 2 years ago was one of the hardest and most daunting things our family has ever had to do. We'd all heard the horror stories and read plenty of worrying reviews about care homes, so it's fair to say we approached the whole process with a lot of nerves and uncertainty.

Billy initially came to The Croft for respite care, but after just a couple of days, we knew we'd found somewhere special. What we thought would be a temporary stay quickly became an obvious permanent home for him.

The kindness, compassion, and professionalism shown by every member of staff is simply second to none. They don't just care for residents – they genuinely get to know them. In Grandad's case, that means they've all learned how to handle his legendary banter... and, impressively, how to give it right back! No easy task when you're dealing with an almost now 100-year-old who still thinks he's the funniest person in the room (to be fair, he often is).

Whether it's the middle of the day, the middle of the night, pouring rain, or during a full-blown heatwave, the staff always greet us with a smile. Nothing ever feels like too much trouble. The warm welcomes, the cups of tea, and even the much-appreciated ice poles during the hot weather (special thanks to Melissa Haines!) have made us feel as cared for as Grandad himself.

A huge thank you goes to every member of the team — those on the front line caring for residents every day and those working tirelessly behind the scenes. You have helped ease our family into a world we never expected to navigate, and you've done so with patience, kindness, humour, and genuine care.

What started as a care home has become so much more. You have become a huge part of our lives and, without a doubt, an extension of our family. We will never be able to thank you enough for the love and support you've shown him and all of us.

Cannot rate highly enough and will always recommend this lovely home from home to anyone that needs some help”.
