Oh, I Do Like to be Beside The Seaside
Last week residents from Clifton Manor Residential Home, rolled up their trouser legs and went for a paddle.
Staff and residents made the most of the summer sun and enjoyed a fantastic day out at the seaside.
It was a magical day for all involved. Everyone has memories of trips to the coast, of hot fresh doughnuts, sticks of bright pink rock that have seen the sad demise of many a filling, and the smell of chips and vinegar, eaten from the paper whilst fending off the hungry seagulls. Life just seems better when you’re by the sea.
Trips like this offer so many benefits for people living with dementia. Being outdoors can help reduce stress and anxiety, while the sights, sounds, and smells of the seaside can stimulate memories, encourage conversation, and promote a sense of wellbeing, a feeling of belonging.
Spending time in nature supports physical activity, it offers opportunities for social interaction, and helps create meaningful experiences that bring joy and connection.
A huge thank you goes to our incredible staff team, whose kindness, dedication, and enthusiasm made this outing possible. Their support ensured everyone could enjoy the day safely, comfortably, and with confidence.
We are so grateful for everything they do to create enriching experiences and happy memories for our residents.
The day was filled with an endless stream of smiles, giggles and special moments, the kind that make you feel warm inside.
We will be talking about this for a while and will be heading back just as soon as we are able.
There’s a seagull down there that owes me a portion of chips.
